Legal Hurdles Are Not Allowing The UK To Forward With Vijay Mallya's Extradition.

India's biggest business tycoon fugitive Vijay Mallya will not be extradited to India as of now as the United Kingdom needs to reslove some form of a 'confidential' legal issue, a spokes person of the British High Commission said on Thursday.

The Spokesperson said that last month, Vijay Mallya had lost his appeal against extradition and refused leave to appeal further to the UK Supreme Court. But he also added that there is some further legal issue that needs to be solved before Mallya can be extradited.

The true nature of the legal issue is not yet clear. It is being speculated that Mallya may have sought political asylum in the United Kingdom or cited the threat to his due to the possible spread of COVID-19 in Indian prisons.

The Spokesperson also said that the issue is completed confidential and that the High Commission cannot go in any detail and that they are seeking to deal with this as quickly as possible.

Vijay Mallys's legal battles against extradition received a setback in May when he was denied the permission to appeal to UK Supreme Court after the High Court upheld a 2018 ruling to send him to India to face legal process for defrauding banks of around 9000 Crore . Atleast 17 Indian Banks are now trying to recover that he had taken during his days as the owner of now dysfunctional Kingfisher Airlines.
