Legal Hurdles Are Not Allowing The UK To Forward With Vijay Mallya's Extradition.
India's biggest business tycoon fugitive Vijay Mallya will not be extradited to India as of now as the United Kingdom needs to reslove some form of a 'confidential' legal issue, a spokes person of the British High Commission said on Thursday. The Spokesperson said that last month, Vijay Mallya had lost his appeal against extradition and refused leave to appeal further to the UK Supreme Court. But he also added that there is some further legal issue that needs to be solved before Mallya can be extradited. The true nature of the legal issue is not yet clear. It is being speculated that Mallya may have sought political asylum in the United Kingdom or cited the threat to his due to the possible spread of COVID-19 in Indian prisons.
