Travelers Returning To England Will be Quarantined Starting June 8
Starting from June 8, travelers who are arriving to the United Kingdom will be required to keep themselves in Self-Isolation for a period of 14 days according to the announcement by Home Secretarty Priti Patel. People who wont comply with idea will be faced with a fine of £1000.
The Home Office has stated that the new policy regarding the Coronavirus pandemic will be in effect across the UK but enforcement in Scotland, Whales and Northern Ireland will be left upon administrators.
People who will be coming into the country by train, ferry or plane, regardless if they are UK nationals will be required fill an online locator contact form detailing where they will be staying during Self-Isolation. A fine of £100 will be imposed for not feeling the form.
Travelers who have not yet secured a place for Self-Isolation will be required to stay in Government arranged facilities on their own expense according to the Border Force Chief Paul Lincoln.
The Self-Isolation policy will not apply to truck drivers, farm workers and coronavirus medics. People who will be traveling from The Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man will also be exempt from this policy.
Patel has told that the measure was taken to “reduce the risk of cases crossing our border”. However she argued that the measure did not mean to shut down the entire UK border.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson previously announced these measures, which will be reviewed every three weeks to determine whether they are inline with scientific guidance and remain “effective and necessary”.
